Naturally Smooth in Every Direction, the Element DS Foot System™
Element DS

The ElementDS Foot System’s design utilizes an innovative 3rd carbon composite spring that supports the foot in each phase of the gait cycle. From heel strike, to mid-stance and toe off; the result is a foot with unsurpassed smoothness, stability and energy return.

Other composite foot designs have hesitation at midstance due to a delay in the center of pressure in the transition from heel to toe. Commonly referred to as a “dead spot”; it is inherent in other designs due to the loss of dynamic support as one or a series of stiff carbon is loaded. The Element’s patent pending design eliminates this dead spot by allowing the upper spring to load the 3rd Element carbon spring at midstance. This enables the foot to release its energy in the latter part of the gait cycle and move the area of stability forward in the foot. The ElementDS combines smooth rollover with stability in the forefoot to enable even stride lengths and a more symmetrical gait.

Element DS Illustration

As with the Element Foot System, the ElementDS allows the practitioner to fine tune the heel rollover using 1 of 2 heel elastomers provided with the foot. The foot shell, designed and manufactured by Centri, a Fillauer company, provides a durable cosmetic finish and is designed to work with the flexibility of the ElementDS.

The ElementDS is a modular design that uses a standard pyramid adaptor and requires only 6.5 in. (16.5 cm) of clearance. The ElementDS has a titanium core pyramid that easily adapts to all lower extremity designs. In addition, the low clearance leaves room for complimentary components such as elevated vacuum systems and locking liners.

The ElementDS is among the few foot systems that have been tested to the stringent ISO-22675 Standard. This new test standard ensures the durability of the foot system on all patients.
The ElementDS is an ideal choice for amputees that are moderately active to very active as defined by levels K3-K4. It is available in sizes 22 to 30cm and carries a weight rating of 275lbs.
