Smooth lines, smooth rollover. Element Foot System™.

The Element Foot System

The Emotis Element Foot sets itself apart from two spring prosthetic foot designs by adding an innovative 3rd Element. Emotis has designed the Element to support each phase of foot function in the gait cycle—from heel strike, to mid-stance, to toe off. The result is a foot with unsurpassed smoothness, stability and performance throughout the gait cycle.

Other composite foot designs have a hesitation at midstance due to the transition from heel to toe commonly referred to as a “dead spot”. In other designs the dead spot is due to the loss of dynamic support in loading of one or a series of stiff carbon plates from the ankle forward. The Element’s patent pending design eliminates this dead spot by allowing the upper spring to load a 3rd Element carbon spring at midstance, typically an area of poor response. This 3rd Element forefoot spring loads and releases its energy in the latter part of the gait cycle resulting in unsurpassed stability and a very smooth gait.

The Element foot allows the practitioner to fine tune the heel rollover using 1 of 2 heel elastomers provided with the foot. In addition the foot shell provides flexibility and cosmesis like no other foot shell available, only surpassed by the innovative foot design inside.

The Element is a modular design that uses a standard pyramid adaptor and requires only 3.75 in. (9.5 cm) of clearance. The Element comes with a titanium core pyramid attachment for easy adaption to all lower extremity designs. In addition the low clearance leaves room for complimentary components such as vacuum systems and shock absorbing units.

The Element is ideal for active and moderately active amputees of all amputation levels and has been tested and certified to the ISO-22675 Test Standard. This is one of only a few foot systems that have met this stringent test standard and proof that it is incredibly durable. It is available in sizes 22 to 30cm and carries a weight rating of 275lbs.

The Three Element Design

The Three Element Design: Upper Spring Element, Lower Foot Plate, 3rd Element

Three separate composite elements deliver outstanding performance.

The lower plate is split and contoured to load in a way that produces a smooth transition to midstance.

The Upper Spring Element’s flexible layup lets it open at heel strike, allowing the toe reach the ground sooner. The split heel plate adds multi-axial function to keep the foot firmly on the ground during midstance.

The 3rd Element balances the dynamics of the design by loading as the Upper Spring Element closes in late stance phase, transferring its energy to toe off.

The three elements work together to produce a foot that is smooth and flexible while providing outstanding energy return.

Element Foot System

Element Foot System - Part No. 100-10-XX-XXX

Kit includes: Element foot, spectra sock, heel band, heel wedge and instructions. Foot selection is determined by foot size and patient weight. The foot model recommendations on the selection chart are based on average patients, engaged in normal activities. If your patient is much more active than average or is lifting heavy loads as part of their daily routine, then going up one weight category is advised.*
